Air India again refuses to fly Ravindra Gaikwad unless he apologises

New Delhi, Apr 7 (IBNS) : Even though Ravindra Gaikwad, the Shiv Sena MP who assaulted an airline employee, has regretted the incident, Air India refuses to fly him unless he tenders unconditional apology, NDTV reports.

A union of Air India employees has said the airline must boycott the politician till he delivers an "unconditional apology" and commits in writing to following norms for "cabin safety and public behavior."

Gaikwad, who has been facing a flying ban by all the airlines told the Lok Sabha on Thursday that while he apologises to parliament if he has "hurt its image" with his actions, he will not apologise to the 60-year-old Air India manager he had thrashed on March 23 inside an aircraft.

In a note issued on Thursday, Gaikwad also regretted the unfortunate" incident" and requested the Centre to lift the flight ban that was imposed on him by six Airlines, citing the reason that it is affecting him to discharge his duties.

His party, Shiv Sena says that Gaikwad has  made no new attempt to book Air India tickets, and the airline is guilty of a smear campaign against him.

Shiv Sena MPs got embroiled in a heated exchange with Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju in the Lok Sabha on Thursday and Sena Minister Ananat Geete once even rushed to Raju in an intimidating manner over the flying ban issue.
