Bhubaneswar, Sept 17 (IBNS): The state of Odisha has started disenfranchising suspected immigrants whose names have been included in the electoral list, media reports said.

This comes after Assam published the complete draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) by excluding over 40 lakh people.

The State Election Commission of Odisha has revised the voters’ list in the district of Kendrapara.

The state government removed about 137 suspected immigrants' names from the list.

The district has almost 2,000 Bangladeshi immigrants, said reports.
