Afghanistan Attacks: Ashraf Ghani rejects phone call request from Pakistan PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi
Kabul, Jan 31 (IBNS): Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday rejected a phone call requested from Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi over the recent terrorist attacks in the Asian nation which left several people killed, media reports said.
A credible source confided to Pajhwok Afghan News that the Pakistan prime minister sought to share his sympathies over the telephone with Ghani after three deadly attacks in the capital.
The news agency report further said Ghani refused talking to Abbasi and said the contact would amount to rubbing salt into Afghans’ wounds, the official revealed.
The Afghanistan government has accused that Pakistan has masterminded the attacks.
Afghanistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mahmoud Saikal on Monday claimed that one of the attackers, who was involved in last week’s attack on Kabul Intercontinental Hotel, was trained by Pakistan's ISI.
"Abdul Qahar, father of one of the terrorists involved in last week attack on #Kabul Intercontinental Hotel, concedes his son was trained in Chaman of #Balochistan Province of #Pakistan by the Inter-Services Intelligence of Pakistan.Qahar is currently in custody of Afg authorities," he tweeted.
The Taliban had claimed responsibility for the attack.
The incident left 103 people killed.
Afghanistan has witnessed several militant attacks in the past few days.
Meanwhile, Ghani said he spoke over phone with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ghani said both the leaders discussed the issue of destroying terrorist sanctuaries ' in our neighborhood'.
"PM Modi called me to offer condolences on the recent senseless killings of civilians across #AFG by the enemies of humanity. We discussed the need for an end to terrorist sanctuaries in our neighborhood. India has always been a good friend of Afghans, sharing our pain and grief," Ghani tweeted,
Afghanistan witnessed series of terrorist attacks in the past few weeks.
In the last attack in recent times, at least five soldiers were killed after insurgents launched a coordinated attack on a military academy in Afghanistan on Monday, media reports said.
In another incident last week, at least 103 people killed in ambulance blast incident.
