A K Singh joins as new West Bengal state election commissioner

Kolkata, Oct 14 (IBNS): Retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Amarendra Kumar Singh on Wednesday joined as new West Bengal state election commissioner.

After conducting municipal elections in Bengal on Oct 3, former state election commissioner Sushanta Ranjan Upadhyaya resigned from his post on Oct 6 and WB transport secretary Alapon Banerjee was appointed as interim state election commissioner on Oct 7.

After the joining of new full-time election commissioner, Alapon Banerjee on Wednesday went back to his previous post.

A K Singh would continue his duty as WB state election commissioner till 2019.
