6.5 kg gold bars seized at Guwahati airport

Guwahati, Nov 11 (IBNS): The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Customs department on Sunday seized gold bars weighing about 6.5 kg from a person at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) in Guwahati. 

During routine checking the CISF and Customs personnel recovered the gold bars from a bag of a passenger identified as Lalthithal Liyana.

Liyana, hailing from Mizoram was to board the AI730 flight of Air India (seat no 14AETD1110) from Guwahati to Kolkata.

Security personnel had detained the person and he revealed that, he was travelling from Aizawl to Inter State Bus Terminal in Guwahati by bus and trying to carry the gold bars to Kolkata.
