5-yr-old boy lynched at Delhi madrasa by older students for holiday

New Delhi: A five-year-old boy was beaten to death by three students aged nine to 11 at a madrasa in Delhi’s Dayalpur on Friday, media reports said.

The autopsy report revealed that the boy sustained multiple internal injuries, with rupture in his liver, and right lung and bleeding in abdomen

Police said the accused said they lynched the boy for two reasons—one, he used cuss words that led to an argument and two, the madrasa would declare a holiday if the boy died.

Police said, the CCTV footage aligns with the findings of the probe and further investigation is underway to ascertain the role of others.

The cops received information about the death at 9:52 pm in Birjipur Madrasa on Friday.

The boy’s mother informed the police that she was told that her son was sick. When she took him to a private hospital, the doctors declared him dead.

The boy's mother went back to the madrasa with his body, drawing a large crowd. A video clip shows people gathered outside the madrasa, placing the body on the ground and demanding action.

Police later arrived at the scene, took the body to GTB Hospital, and assured the crowd that an investigation would be conducted, leading to the crowd dispersing, according to an official.

A case of murder has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, and further investigation is ongoing.
