Mumbai, Feb 18 (IBNS): At least six people were arrested for mercilessly thrashing a 22-year-old youth who later succumbed to grievous injuries on Tuesday evening hours after the savage assault, media reports said.

The incident took place at Malad in Mumbai as six people beat up Afzal Beg and also tried to run him over with a bike. It was caught on close circuit camera also. Afzal was found lying in a pool of blood for a long time. Later local resident called the police. Afzal died at hospital.

The son of a policeman, Amol Ghuge, was also among six people arrested in connection with the case. Police said the motive of the murder is yet to be known.

According to reports, Afzal and his friend were riding a motorcycle when the attackers stopped them midway. Ghuge allegedly dragged Afzal off the bike and started beating him while Afzal’s friend managed to speed off.

The attackers continued to beat Afzal until he stopped moving and then ran away.
