2 militants, one civilian killed in J&K

Srinagar, Nov 14 (IBNS): Two militants were killed in an encounter with police and security forces at Chenigam Kulgam on Friday morning. One civilian was also killed in cross-fire.

Based on specific information regarding the presence of armed militants in village Chenigam, which falls within the jurisdiction of Yaripora police station, a joint force consisting of Kulgam Police, 1 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 18 Bn CRPF cordoned the area and launched a search operation on Thursday evening.

On arrival at the village, militants started firing towards the security forces to which they retaliated thus ensuing a fierce gun-battle.

Two militants were killed in the encounter and arms and ammunition has been recovered from the site on Friday.

After some time, other militants, who were hiding in the area started fresh firing at the troops.

During which two army men, one CRPF man and a civilian got injured.

They have been rushed to the hospital.

The injured civilian is identified as Tariq Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ismail resident of Nowbal Chengam, succumbed to his injuries.

The condition of CRPF man and a army man is stable, however, condition of one Army man is serious.
