11 killed, 10 injured in Meghalaya road mishap

Guwahati, June 15 (IBNS) : At least 11 people were killed and 10 others injured after a passenger bus fell into a deep gorge in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills on Tuesday night, officials said on Wednesday.

According to the reports, the ill fated  bus of Assam State Transport Corporation, (ASTC) going from Silchar to Guwahati, skidded off the road and rolled down a 500-foot gorge near Sonapur Mandir. 

So far 11 bodies have been recovered and injured persons had sent to Silchar and Guwahati

East Jaintia Hills district police said that 30 people were feared to have been killed.

Police and rescue personnel are engaged in recovering the bodies and rescuing the injured persons.
