West Bengal's COVID-19 tally reaches 70,188, active cases breach 20,000 mark

Kolkata/IBNS: With 2,496 fresh infections and 45 more fatalities reported in the past 24 hours, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has mounted to 70,188, including 20,233 active cases, 1,581 deaths and 48,374 recoveries, reports said on Friday.

According to a bulletin issued by West Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the last 24 hours, 2,118 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 68.92 per cent from 68.33 per cent.

Officials said that Bengal had tested 8,93,400 samples till date with a record number of 19,003 tests conducted in 57 testing facilities in the state in the past 24 hours.

Currently, 3315 persons were kept in government quarantine centres and 32,272 people are under home surveillance in the state, officials reported.
