Weight Loss
Want to lose weight? Health expert shares her three simple rules
A leading health expert has said that sustainable weight loss depends on simple, consistent habits rather than drastic or short-term measures.
Sharing her insights on healthy living, nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar emphasized that long-term weight management is rooted in patience, balanced eating, and avoiding social media-driven diet trends.
Three key rules for sustainable weight loss:
1. Aim for gradual, sustainable weight loss (5–10% of body weight):
She noted that losing weight at a steady pace is more beneficial for long-term health than rapid weight loss. Preserving strength, immunity, and bone density is essential during the process.
2. Follow food-based dietary guidelines:
Traditional diets, she said, are not only healthy for people and the planet but also affordable, easy to prepare, and easy to digest. They provide essential nutrients including protein, fibre, magnesium, and more.
3. Avoid social media diet trends:
She cautioned against following viral “insta diets,” noting that quick-fix solutions and fad ingredients are often replaced by the next trend. The real progress, she said, lies in consistent habits rather than viral hacks or shortcuts.
