Six rhino poachers arrest, Assam forest minister directs to take stern action against poachers

While interrogating a poacher gang, those were arrested by the Nagaon police at Jakhalabandha area nearest to Kaziranga National Park on Friday night, the state forest minister said that it is an achievement after six most wanted rhino poachers arrested with arms and ammunition.

“The poachers revealed that, they had sold a rhino horn in Nagaland’s Dimapur town at Rs 27 lakh. We are trying to unearth the international racket, those involved in the poaching incidents. Recently, the Assam government cabinet has approved to create a special rhino protection force,” Brahma said.

Dimapur, the bordering town with Assam has turned a hub of illegal activities including illegal arms trade, illegal wildlife trade.

Pramila Rani Brahma, who also known as the Assam forest queen said that, compared to the previous years, the poaching incidents has decreased in the state in past ten months and we are trying to reduce it more.

The Assam forest minister further said that, to protect wild animals and reduce poaching incidents the state forest department has taken adequate measures in Kaziranga and other parts of the state.

Assam police had recently arrested six poachers, who were involved in few poaching incidents in Kaziranga National Park.
The arrested poachers were identified as Ibrahim Ali, Ainul Ali, Abdul Shattar, Rekot Ali, Abdul Ali and Akhtar Ali.

According to the reports, the Nagaon police had recovered a 303 rifle, several rounds of live ammunition, magazine, a vehicle and other equipments in possession from the arrested poachers.
