Manila/UNI/Xinhua: The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported 16,361 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections on Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 2,401,916.

The DOH also reported that 140 more people died from the virus, pushing the country's death toll to 37,074.

"The relatively low cases today is due to lower laboratory output last Sunday," the DOH added. On September 11, the DOH reported its highest ever daily tally with 26,303 cases.

The Philippines, which has around 110 million population, has tested more than 19 million people since the outbreak in January 2020.
