Outbreak of Avian Influenza reported in Telengana

Hyderabad, Apr 16 (IBNS): An outbreak of avian influenza, popularly known as Bird Flu has been reported from the Rangareddy district of Telengana.
The reports of the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIH SAD) Bhopal revealed that five samples from Srinivas Reddy Poultry Farm from the district were found positive for H5N1 Avian Influenza Virus. 
 
The state government, after collecting information about the stock of poultry birds around the area, has already started control and containment operations from Tuesday.
 
Till date more than 51,888 birds were culled.
