India sees slight rise in COVID-19 cases with 50,040 fresh infections, records 1258 new deaths

New Delhi/IBNS: India witnessed a slight rise in the daily Coronavirus cases with 50,040 infections over the last 24 hours while deaths from COVID-19 jumped by 1,258.

The South Asian country's overall caseload now stands at 3.02 crore, while total fatalities are at 3.95 lakh, the union health ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

Kerala contributed 12,118 fresh cases to the country's daily numbers, which was followed by Maharashtra (9,812 cases) and Tamil Nadu (5,415 cases).

India's active cases stood at 5,86,403 while 2,92,51,029 people have so far recovered from the virus. This constitutes an overall recovery rate of 96.75%, which is showing a sustained increasing trend.

Meanwhile, India’s cumulative vaccination coverage exceeded 32 Crores on Saturday.
