India records 10,197 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours, significantly higher than yesterday

New Delhi: India, a nation that witnessed a deadly second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, registered 10,197 new cases in the past 24 hours, as per data released by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday.

It is significantly higher than the daily case count recorded on Tuesday when 8,865 new cases were registered.

During the same period, 197 people died due to the virus which is believed to have originated from China.

The death toll due to the virus in the country now stands at 463852.

India's active caseload stands at 1,28,555; lowest in 527 days.

Active cases account for less than 1 percent of total cases.

It currently stands at 0.37 percent.

Recovery Rate currently at 98.28 percent.

12,134 recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours.
