How to Keep Your Workouts Fresh During Lockdown

By now, it’s possible that you’ve been under some form of lockdown for the past three (or more) months. Obviously, that’s a long time to be effectively stuck in your own home. And, unsurprisingly, plenty of people are probably struggling to maintain their exercise regimen. However, now is not the time to let yourself fall into bad habits that will negatively affect your health and wellness. On that front, thankfully, we’re here to help. If you’re tired and bored of doing the same old exercises, then check out these four tips for keeping your workouts fresh and fun during lockdown:

Partner Up (Digitally)

It’s been fairly well established that working out with a partner, within a group, or just around other people leads to better, longer workout sessions. Unfortunately, meeting up with your friends, a personal trainer, or just going to the gym may still not be possible for you. In such a situation, it’s a smart play to partner up with some workout cohorts over platforms like Skype or Zoom. Just hearing another voice during your workout can prove beneficial.

Invest in Yourself

There’s a chance that this “new normal” of social distancing may continue for longer than just another few weeks or months. Given that fact, it makes a lot of sense to invest in workout equipment that will help you have better workouts indoors. This might include a new pair of headphones so you can listen to music while exercising. Or it could be a new set of weights. Or even new running shoes. Regardless, buying new gear could give you an added boost and incentive to perform at your best right now.

Try Something New

It may seem very obvious, but if you haven’t tried to shake up your routine yet, then you should consider doing so. Lockdown is the perfect time to sign up for a new online yoga class, or to try out cycling on a stationary bike –– to name a few examples. Plus, you may even be able to leave your home for exercise in a local park or sparsely populated area. Just make sure to follow local guidelines on exercising in public places.

Talk to Your Doctor

Lacking the energy you used to have? Having trouble with nagging elbow,  leg, or back pain? If so, then don’t hesitate to reach out to a doctor. Medical professionals are pioneering a range of new methods to help people address common pain points. In fact, some clinics have even introduced a knee treatment using stem cells, which could alleviate habitual pain and discomfort for some individuals. In the end, it never hurts to speak with your M.D.
