Kolkata: In a rare event, nine women delivered twins within a span of just 24 hours—from 8 am on Tuesday to 8 am on Wednesday—at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital in Bengal, media reports said.

Interestingly, none of the women conceived through assisted reproductive technology, the Times of India reported.

Among the 18 newborns, seven are boys and 11 are girls, the report said.

Although six of the babies, each weighing around 1.5 kg, have been placed in the Sick Neonatal Care Unit (SNCU) for observation, both the mothers and all the babies are reported to be in stable condition, it added.
