Sensex rallied by 385.04 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Thursday surged 385.04 pts to close at 66,265.56 in a volatile trade, following gains in Capital Goods, Realty, Industrials and Energy stocks.

The Nifty gained 116 pts at 19,727.05 pts.

The Sensex opened negative at 65,858.42, easing 22 pts. It slipped 208 pts at 65,672.34, days low. Later, it bounced back nearly 416 pts at 66,296.90, days high, before closing at 66,265.56, up 385.04 pts from its previous close.

In stocks, Capital Goods was a major gainer, up 2.29 pc followed by Industrials by 1.55 pc, Realty by 1.44 pc and Energy by 0.96 pc.

The Mid Cap moved up by 0.79 pc and Small Cap by 0.40 pc.

In 30 scrips, 20 advanced while 10 declined.

The gainers were L& T by 4.19 pc to Rs 2845, IndusInd Bank by 2.05 pc to Rs 1437, SBI by 1.82 pc to Rs 580.85, Tech Mahindra by 1.61 pc to Rs 1268.30 and HCL Technologies by 1.56 pc to Rs 1255

The losers were Sun Pharma by 0.88 pc to Rs 1132.20, Infosys by 0.66 pc to Rs 1467, M&M by 0.65 pc to Rs 1567.50 and Ultracemco by 0.59 pc to Rs 8483.
