Sensex down by over 400 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday nosedived by 436 pts to open at 49,066.45 as profit booking was seen in Metal, IT, Finance and Materials stocks.

The Nifty too slipped by 153 pts to 14,789.70.

The Sensex registered intra-day high and low at 49,146.74 and 48,988.18 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intra-day high and low at 14,837.95 and 14,771.40 respectively.

The Mid Cap fell by 0.06 pc while the Small Cap rose by 0.42 pc.

In 30 scrips 23 declined while 7 advanced.

The losers were HDFC by 2.24 pc to Rs 2474.15, Kotak Bank by 1.91 pc to Rs 1775.70, Bajaj finance by 1.43 pc to Rs 5418, IndusInd Bank by 1.34 pc to Rs 932.55 and ICICI Bank by 1.28 pc to Rs 605.25.

The gainers were Sun Pharma by 3.27 pc to Rs 721, NTPC by 1.35 pc to Rs 109.15, Powergrid by 0.75 pc to Rs 221.45 and Ultracemco by 0.48 pc to Rs 6436.40.
