Petrol gets cheaper by 13 p; diesel down by 7 p/l

New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) Petrol and diesel prices slashed for second consecutive day on Friday by 12-13 paise per litre and seven paise per litre respectively.

In Delhi, petrol retails at Rs 71.73 per litre as against yesterday's Rs 71.80 p/l while diesel costs Rs 66.51 a litre (Rs 66.63 p/l).

In Mumbai, people have to shell out Rs 77.34 per litre while yesterday it was Rs 77.41 p/l. Diesel is retailing at Rs 69.69 a litre as against yesterday's Rs 69.82 per litre.

According to Indian Oil Corporation website, petrol and diesel cost Rs 73.79 p/l as against yesterday's Rs 73.86 while diesel is being sold for Rs 68.27 a litre in Kolkata.

Similarly, in Chennai, petrol is retailing at Rs 74.46 per litre and diesel costs Rs 70.31 per litre.

In Noida, petrol is available at a price of Rs 71.34 per litre and diesel costs Rs 65.60 a litre.

In Gurugram, petrol is being sold for Rs 71.85 a litre and diesel Rs 65.68 per litre.

As per the country’s dynamic pricing mechanism, the domestic fuel prices depend upon International fuel prices on a 15-day average and the value of the Rupee.

The price of the two fuels retailing at the petrol pumps is calculated after adding central excise duty, dealers commission and value-added tax (VAT) to the base price.

The prices are revised at 0600 hrs daily, while earlier it used to be revised every fortnight.
