Mumbai, May 2 (IBNS) Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, a leading SUV manufacturer, said on Sunday that its auto sector sold 41,863 units in April 2016, posting a growth of 14 per cent over its sales reported in April 2015.

The passenger vehicle segment (which includes UVs, cars and vans) sold 22.655 units in April 2016 against 19,464 units sold a year ago.

The company also reported a 14 per cent growth in domestic sales, which increased from 34.467 units in April 2015 to 39.357 units in April 2016.

In April 2016, the company said it sold 472 units in the Medium and Heavy Commercial vehicles segment, registering a growth of 82 per cent from the previous year.

Exports in April 2016 increased 11 per cent from the previous year to 2506 units.

According to Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive (Automotive), the company is hoping that the Supreme Court, while taking a decision on May 9 on the ban on diesel vehicles in the National Capital Region (NCR) 'will take cognizance of all the facts including the role that the automotive industry plays in the country's industrial growth'.
