Indian market: Sensex crosses 60K to 60,115.13 pts

Mumbai: The equity market remained firm for the third straight session on Monday, as it breached 60,000 level to close strong at 60,115.13, rising 321.99 points on the strength of Realty, Materials, Technology and Consumer Durable stocks amid strong Asian Market.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rallied 103 points at 17,936.35.

The Sensex opened on a position note at 59,912.29, up 119 points. During the day it was surged 491 points at 60,284.55, days high, before closing at 60,115.13, advancing 321.99 points from its previous close.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,980.55 and 17,889.15 points respectively.

In scrips, Tech Mahindra was a major gainer, rising 2.60 per cent to Rs 1155.85 followed by Titan by 2.39 per cent to Rs 2664.95, Axis Bank by 1.91 per cent to Rs 799.85, Tata Steel by 1.80 per cent to Rs 107.65 and Infosys by 1.47 per cent to Rs 1534.

The losers were Nestle India Ltd by 0.65 per cent to Rs 18910, HDFC by 0.50 per cent to Rs 2419.20, HDFC Bank by 0.41 per cent to Rs 1492 and M& M by 0.51 per cent to Rs 1296.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.89 per cent and Small Cap by 1 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 20 advanced, 9 declined while one remained unchanged.

The Asian Market was seen robust, as Australia went up by 0.97 per cent, China by 0.82 per cent, Hong Kong by 2.69 per cent and Japan by 1.16 per cent.
