Eight core industries rise 5.7 pct higher in February

New Delhi, Mar 31 (IBNS) The combined Index of Eight core industries stands at 172.2 in February, 2016, which was 5.7 percent higher compared to the index of February, 2015, official data said on Thursday.

"Its cumulative growth during April toFebruary, 2015-16 was 2.3 %," read a government statement.

Coal production (weight: 4.38percent) increased by 3.9 percent inFebruary, 2016over February, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to February, 2015-16 increased by 5.0 percent over corresponding period of previous year.

Crude Oil production (weight: 5.22 percent) increased by 0.8 percent in February, 2016 over February, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to February, 2015-16 decreased by 1.0 % over the corresponding period of previous year.

The Natural Gas production (weight: 1.71 percent) increased by 1.2 percent in February, 2016 over February, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to February, 2015-16 declined by 3.6 percent over the corresponding period of previous year.

Petroleum Refinery production (weight: 5.94 percent) increased by 8.1 percent in February, 2016 over February, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to February, 2015-16 increased by 3.1 percent over the corresponding period of previous year.

Fertilizer production (weight: 1.25 percent)increased by 16.3 percent in February, 2016 over February, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to February, 2015-16 increased by 10.3 percent over the corresponding period of previous year.

Steel production (weight: 6.68 percent) declined by 0.5 percent in February, 2016 over February, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to February, 2015-16 declined by 1.8 percent over the corresponding period of previous year.

Cement production (weight: 2.41 percent) increased by 13.5 percent in February, 2016 over February, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to February, 2015-16 increased by 3.9 percent over the corresponding period of previous year.

Electricity generation (weight: 10.32 percent)increased by 9.2 percent in February, 2016 over February, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to February, 2015-16 increased by 4.6 percent over the corresponding period of previous year.
