Tremors were felt in parts of Kolkata on Tuesday after an earthquake struck neighbouring Myanmar, media reports said.

The quake is estimated to have had a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The tremors were reported hours after India experienced two separate earthquakes on Monday.

The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km, with its epicentre located at latitude 9.03° North and longitude 92.78° East.

In another incident, an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 hit Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district early Monday, PTI reported.

The tremor occurred at around 5.35 am, with the Pattan area identified as the epicentre. No loss of life or property was reported in either incident.
