New Delhi/UNI: National Capital's air continued to reel under the very poor category on Friday , the Central Pollution Control Board said here.

The average Air Quality Index measured in the city at around 1000 hrs was 331 , falling under the 'very poor' category, according to the government agency.

At ITO the AQI was at alarming levels measuring at 478 at around 1200 hrs, falling under the 'severe' category, while at some places it was nearing 400 and also above 350 at other places. The AQI at NSIT Dwarka also measured at 405 at the same time.

A layer of smog was present on Friday's misty morning across the Delhi skies , wit minimum temperature recorded at 11.4 degrees C, and relative humidity pegging at 96 per cent , preventing dispersion of the particulate matter.

Talking of the cities adjacent to Delhi like Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Noida and Faridabad, the air quality was very poor with AQI more than 350 at several areas.

The government agencies are conducting drives to check the use and selling of crackers, as it has been banned by the government and the Green Court in view of the rise in air pollution levels.
