Ziro/Arunachal Pradesh: Ziro, a quaint old town in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, made a remarkable achievement by witnessing a huge turnout by the people for a flower plantation drive organized yesterday.

More than 3,000 enthusiastic residents of the valley actively participated in planting flowers along the 12-kilometer stretch of the Trans Arunachal Highway towards the Upper Subansiri District, reported Arunachal24.

Commencing from the entry point of Ziro police check gate at Siibey, individuals from diverse backgrounds, including citizens, students, panchayat leaders, members of various NGOs and community-based organizations (CBOs), village clan members, market committee members, government staff, and the public, came together to plant over 100,000 ornamental cosmos flower saplings along NH-13 TAH until Pine Grove.

The mass flower plantation drive, initiated by 13-Reru Kalung ZPM Subu Lento, aimed at the motto of 'each one plant one,' with the objective of creating a cleaner and greener Ziro.

Local MLA and Minister of Agriculture and Allied Er. Tage Taki emphasized the importance of preserving the beauty and cleanliness of the Ziro Valley, which is gradually gaining popularity as a tourist destination.

Taki urged everyone to strive towards making Ziro the number one tourist spot in the state.

Taki aslo appealed to the owners of houses, granaries, and rest houses situated in the paddy fields to paint the roofs of their structures.

This request was made to address the difficulties faced by migratory birds attempting to land on the paddy fields due to the irritating reflections caused by the white thin sheets on the roofs.

Notable personalities, including MLA and Chairman APB&OCWWB Nyato Dukam, Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Bamin Nime, former minister Padi Richo, former ACWA president Takam Padu, retired chief engineer Hage Appa, PWD chief engineer Dani Gambo, Director of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Subu Tabin, and PHC managing director and NH-13 TAH contractor Puna Hinda, actively participated in the plantation drive.

While the Kalung Reru panchayat leaders will continue the plantation drive for another week, Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Bamin Nime announced a contribution of Rs 2 lakhs from the DC's untied fund to support the maintenance and upkeep of the planted flowers.

With the arrival of the next spring season, Ziro Valley is expected to delight in visiting tourists with the enchanting sight of blossoming cosmos flowers, adding to its allure as a deserving and picturesque tourist destination.
