Home guard Jawan injured during firing incident in Manali: HP CM

Dharamshala/UNI: Four people resorted to firing on two home guard jawans, injuring one of them, when they were patrolling in the tourist resort Manali, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur told the House on Thursday.

Giving a suo motu statement here, Thakur, who also holds the portfolio of Home, said that four miscreants have so far been arrested in the case, out of which, three were arrested on Thursday.

The first one assaulted a jawan and the latter threatened to fire at them. As one of the accused opened fired on them, one jawan got injured.

The man, who resorted to firing, was absconding.

An FIR has been lodged on the complaint of Home guard jawan Thiku Ram.

The jawans were on night patrolling, along with another identified as Naresh, when the incident occurred.

The jawans were on night duty at Model Town in Manali, when they found the youth roaming in the street at 0130 hrs.

The jawan reportedly wanted to know the reason of their wandering in the night, when the altercation resulted in a major assault.

The injured jawan was admitted in the Mission Hospital, Manali for treatment.

The accused was identified as Sandeep, resident of Samhan village in Manali, Akash Jawala of Nagarchoke in New Delhi and Karan, resident of Bajari Company in Pathankot, Punjab.

The main accused, who resorted to firing and absconding after the crime, was identified as Shubham Panwar of Dehradun.

Police also recovered a live bullet from the room, where they were staying.
