BNP supremo attacked in Dhaka

Dhaka, Apr 21 (IBNS) Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) supremo Khaleda Zia's cars were attacked by miscreants while she was campaigning for party-endorsed city election candidates in Dhaka on Monday, media reports said.

The incident occurred at around 6 pm in Dhaka's Karwan Bazar area.

"Witnesses said that objects and brickbats were hurled at the gathering from the buildings nearby in the first bout of attacks," bdnews24.com reported,

Unidentified miscreants wielding sticks, logs and sledgehammers launched the attack against country's former PM.

Zia was unhurt in the incident.

Several of  Zia's security staff and journalists were hurt in the incident.

The BNP has blamed the government for the attack and called for shutdown on Wednesday.
