Earthquake jolts Asian countries Taiwan and Nepal

New Delhi, Feb 6 (IBNS): A 17-storied building came crashing down in Taiwan as quake hit its southern part on Saturday, killing at least seven and trapping many under the debris.
On Saturday, as Taiwan struggled with the aftermath of an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale, news reached that Nepal too was hit by an earthquake of 5.5 magnitude, with Bihar in India also experiencing the tremor.
 
The earthquake in Nepal was felt in capital Kathmandu and the tourist city of Pokhara, 200km south-west of the capital. 
 
Over 15 people have been injured, according to local media.
 
Aftershocks were also felt in Bihar in India, reported the media.
 
There has been so far 428 after shocks of 4 or more magnitude recorded across Nepal after the devastating earthquake of April 25, 2015.
 
The earthquake in Taiwan left a trail of damages and at least seven people dead and over 400 injured, according to media reports.
 
Taiwan was preparing for the Chinese Lunar New Year when the earthquake struck 28km North-East of Pingtung country.
 
Residents of Tainan city, on Taiwan's west coast, were jolted awake at about 4 amas the ground shook for nearly two minutes. 
 
Rescue workers are trying to pull out people from under collapsed buildings that have toppled in Tainan city.
 
According to local reports, a 17-story apartment building with at least 150 housing units collapsed, trapping more than 30 people inside; office buildings slanted sideways, teetering above busy streets.
 
More than 220 people have been rescued from under the rubble so far.
 
To hasten up rescue operations, the government has mobilized the national army.
 
Many residents of Tainan have pointed on social media that the latest earthquake reminded them of 1999 earthquake; the 1999 tremor killed more than 2,000 people and is believed to be one of the worst natural disasters faced by Taiwan.
