Father had God-gifted powers : Amit Kumar
Kolkata, Apr 6 (IBNS) Singer Amit Kumar pays tribute to his father, the legendary Kishore Kumar, by saying not everybody can be like his father.
"Father used to practise under the tutelage of K L Saigal for years. He had God-gifted power which made him the Kishore Kumar of today," the 'Love Story' singer told IBNS on location of a reality show shoot 'Phire Asar Gaan' to be aired on Star Jalsha.
Pointing out the situation at present has drastically changed from what it used to be in the past, Amit Kumar said, "But one aspect remains the same. For every successful artiste, a rocking performance stems from within."
"When I had started singing, I had picked up the nuances in six months. And I began with light classical," the Yaad Aa Rahi Hay singer said.
Amit Kumar, who always motivated the participants with the word 'Practice, Practice and Practice' said one should practice restraint in real life to dream to reach the top.
Terming his co-judges Bappi Lahiri, Usha Uthup as contemporary, Amit said "The three of us are deliberating while awarding marks to contestants in the reality show."
"I am the son of Mt Everest while Usha Uthup and Bappi Lahiri are Everests. I have deep ties with them. So when we three converge there is a certain tuning," he said.
About the USP of the show he said, "It encapsulates the fight of those not having given chance on a platter in earlier."
"Kudos to Balaji Entertainment and Chhayabani Productions as producers of such a show and the channel for airing the same," he said.
Amit Kumar planned to bring out an album tentatively named Gangulys where all those having come under the magic influence of Kishore Kumar as part of his family would chip in.
"With the sale of audio cd going downhill, we have to be ready for the eventuality of the contents being downloaded. After all we should not be losing on the issue of reaching out," he signed off.
Popular Bengali film actor, comedian-character artiste, show anchor Biswanath said, he had grown up with title tracks of Bappi, Usha and Amit Kumar and even used to dedicate an Amit Kumar romantic song to his lady teacher in his days.
"Now I get to interact with such people."
Biswanath said he has done away with loud anchoring style for this show and stressing more on the emotional aspect. "It is a lot more subtle and understated in sync with the format," he said.
