Dangal nearing INR 200 cr mark at Indian box-office

Mumbai, Dec 30 (IBNS): Aamir Khan's Christmas release Dangal is expected to cross the INR 200 crore mark today.

The movie has so far collected INR 197.53 core at the domestic box-office.

"#Dangal emerges a WINNER... Collects a WHOPPING ₹ 197.53 cr nett in Week 1... Expected to sprint towards ₹ 250 cr by Weekend 2," business analyst and movie critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"#Dangal's reign to remain unopposed, unchallenged for another week. Question is, when will it hit ₹ 300 cr mark? Will it challenge #Sultan?" a subsequent tweet asked.

"#Dangal Fri 29.78 cr, Sat 34.82 cr, Sun 42.41 cr, Mon 25.69 cr, Tue 23.09 cr, Wed 21.46 cr, Thu 20.29 cr. Total: ₹ 197.53 cr. India biz." Adarsh said.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is a biopic on India's foremost wrestling family, the Phogats.

It stars Aamir Khan as former Indian wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra as wrestlers Geeta and Babita Phogat respectively.

Dangal released on Dec 23, 2016 in India.
