Bengaluru, Oct 13 (IBNS): Bollywood and European film actor Nicole Faria, who shot to fame with Bollywood flick Yaarian, will flag off a walk in the city on Friday morning to raise awareness about refractive error, a major cause of 'avoidable' blindness in India.

The Walk that will start from Freedom Park will also be kicked off Australian Consul-General, Sean Kelly, IVI CEO Vinod Daniel. Essilor India CEO Shiva Kumar Janardhanan and Essilor COO Ramachandran.

The walk will be a unique awareness initiative conceptualized by IVI to raise awareness about refractive error, a major cause of ‘avoidable’ blindness in India.

The event will be a forum to sensitize participants and the general public to the difficulties faced by the visually challenged, and the commendable way in which they work around their disability.

The Walk also honours World Sight Day.

Similar Walks organized in Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai drew enthusiastic participation from people from all walks of life, including high profile guests and college and school students.
