Samaroh- Rotary International District 3291 Conference held in Kolkata

Kolkata, Jan 15 (IBNS): Samaroh- the annual Rotary District Conference of Rotary International District 3291 was held at the Nicco Park Lawns, Salt Lake.

The three days long conference featured twelve general sessions on various issues of social and economic importance largely centered on the humanitarian work undertaken by Rotary International globally.

Friday afternoon witnessed a grand opening with address by District Governor Shyamashree Sen in presence of national and international dignitaries including Rotary International Presidents Representative AS Venkatesh, Ambarish Dasgupta of KPMG and Deepa Willingham, the founder of the PACE Foundation as special guests.

The conference was a congress of around 1500 Rotarians, most of them being the city’s important personalities.

Eminent personalities as Jawhar Sircar, Mohan Guruswamy, Dilip Cherian, Dr Pramath Sinha, Prof Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, Dr Boria Majumdar, Dr Palash Sen, Dr Sylvia Whitlock, Chandrashekhar Ghosh, Urmi Basu, Deepa Willingham were few of the speakers who spoke at the conference.

In addition, the Samaroh also acknowledged vocational excellence by giving Rotary Banga Ratna Awards to Alokananda Roy, Jawhar Sircar, Dr Palash Sen, Chandrashekhar Ghosh, Tridib Chattopadhyay, and Arun Lal.

Cultural presentation by Debojyoti Mishra and his group paid tribute to SD Burman and RD Burman on the first day and an electrifying performance by the Indi-pop band Euphoria on Day 2 set the entertainment barometer of the conference.
