N.Y. doctor tests positive for Ebola

New York, Oct 24 (IBNS): A doctor in the US's New York city, who recently returned from Guinea after treating Ebola patients in the country, tested positive for the Ebola virus on Thursday, officials said.

The doctor is identified as Craig Spencer.

He is undergoing treatment at New York's Bellevue Hospital.

According to reports, he has been placed in isolation.

Speaking on the issue, Mayor of New York City

Bill de Blasio said: "Today, a patient at Bellevue Hospital tested positive for Ebola. But let me be clear: there is no reason for New Yorkers to be alarmed."

He said :"Ebola is an extremely hard disease to contract. It is only transmitted through bodily fluids – not simply by being near an infected person."

He said authorities in the city is prepared and committed to keep all New Yorkers safe.

Spencer is  the city's first diagnosed Ebola case.
