WB Minister Chandrima Bhattacharjee inaugurates INS's fourth national conference in Kolkata
INS India is an affiliate of the INS, based in the US. Their theme for the Kolkata conference is "Infusion Safety-Setting Standards for Excellence.”
With seven city forums across the country, INS India trains professionals in the field of nursing.
"The aim of the INS Kolkata forum is to provide nurses and related healthcare professionals a platform to exchange the latest know-how about infusion therapy techniques, best practices and global infusion standards, resulting in better outcomes, higher patient satisfaction and safer care. It would disseminate standards of practices, provide professional development opportunities and quality education programs on infusion practices," the company said in a release.
On the occasion, Madhukari Ray, Organizing Secretary, INS India said, “The evolving trend of having specially trained nursing personnel using standardized and optimized infusion technique is the best scientific approach in reducing errors and improving patients’ safety by doing no harm.”
The release also quoted, "According to WHO, one out of every 10 patients is harmed while receiving hospital care. At any given time, 1.4 million people worldwide suffer from infections acquired in hospitals. A number of disease outbreaks involving transmission of blood-borne pathogens due to unsafe infusion practices have been reported recently."
"Infusion services will continue to be needed due to advancing medical technologies. With a mission to impact quality professional practices through standards and ethics, Infusion Nurses Society (INS) India encourages clinical research and education for nurses. We believe that such initiatives are significant for nurses and will go a long way to deliver quality patient care in India,” added Varun Khanna, Managing Director,BD India & South Asia.
