67th Jhangar Day held

Udhampur, J&K, July 3 (IBNS): The 67th Jhangar Day was organized by the Indian Army at the border village of Jhangar in Naoshera Tehsil on Friday.
The function commemorated the supreme sacrifice of the brave Brigadier Mohammed Usman, Maha Vir Chakra and his men, who, during the 1947-48 operations, not just prevented the capture of Naoshera Town but in a hard fought battle, recaptured the Jhangar area from Pakistan Army & other intruders.

 Lt Gen KH Singh, GOC, 16 Corps, who  was the Chief Guest on the occasion, laid a wreath at the Usman Memorial and thereafter along with a large number of civil dignitaries, Army personnel, Police and locals of the area, witnessed a cultural Programme.
 
On this occasion, the Chief Guest felicitated Veer Naris, Bal Sainiks (4 surviving Bal Sainiks) and the Bravehearts.

Lt Gen KH Singh expressed his happiness over the conduct of the Medical, Eye, Artificial Limb, Agriculture Camp and interacted with the beneficiaries of these events. More than 1200 locals of Naoshera witnessed the function.

The GOC also recalled the valiant contribution of the local youth who took active part to assist the Indian Army during 1947- 48.
