Laxman uncertain for first Test in Nagpur

Nagpur , Feb 5 (IBNS) V V S Laxman, the middle order batsman of India, is uncertain for the first Test against South Africa beginning here Saturday, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said.
He told reporters on Friday: “ Laxman is a little uncertain for tomorrow’s match. All other players are all right."
Laxman is yet to fully recover from finger injury.
Meanwhile the team management on Wednesday asked Rohit Sharma to stay put in the city ahead of the first Test.
Rohit was captaining Board President’s eleven against the visitors.
“Injuries are beyond our control” Dhoni said adding that some of the youngsters should grab this opportunity to perform.
Commenting on Indian fielding Dhoni said: “ We have been good in catching.”
He feels the younger players in the team are fielding better. He also admitted that South Africaans are better in ground fielding.
Regarding top billing in the ICC Test ranking Indian captain said: “ We are not bothered about the ranking. We have to play well and that is important to us . We are going with a definite mind set. Number one tag keeps on coming and going.”
Dhoni said he had enough confidence on his openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Shewag . “They did well earlier. There is no reason they won’t be doing so here as well.They are enough experienced to play under pressure”.
Asked about their strategy, Dhoni said “ We have to see what kind of start we get. We will chalk out our gameplan accordingly.”
Commenting about the wicket here Dhoni said it is quite dry and would have low bounce.”We have to adopt according to then situation”, he said.
Speaking to media, South African captain Graem Smith said “ We will put Dhoni’s team under pressure.”
Smith said the Proteas have done enough research work on Dhoni and his team before coming . ‘Dhoni has matured during the last couple of years but we have to find some chinks in his strategy.”
