Dubai, Oct 8 (IBNS): The International Cricket Council (ICC) Monday said it will start an urgent probe over allegations brought up by a private TV channel against some umpires for involvement in match fixing at the recently concluded ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka.
ICC stated that none of the umpires named were involved in any of the official games of the ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka.
Earlier, a private channel in a sting operation showed how umpires from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were offered to fix matches in return for financial benefits.
ICC called on the channel to turnover any information which can assist the ICC’s urgent investigations into this matter.
ICC official Monday said, "The ICC re-iterates its zero-tolerance towards corruption whether alleged against players or officials."
"The ICC will not make any further comment on this issue," officials said.
