Typhoon Bopha pounds Philippines
India Blooms News Service
Manila, Dec 4 (IBNS): A typhoon hit southern Philippines on Tuesday destroying houses, cutting power and flooding large areas, reports said.
Named Bopha, this was was the strongest storm to his the country this year, with wind speeds crossing 200kmph.
At least 41,000 people were evacuated from high-risk areas ahead of the storm.
Latest reports confirmed one death on Tuesday.
A large number of flights have been cancelled and ferry services suspended owing to the typhoon.
About 20 typhoons hit Philippines every year.
