Delhites enjoy fast to feast in Navratra

New Delhi, March 21 (IBNS) With the Navratas on, the restaurants of the national capital are tweaking their menus so that Delhites now can enjoy a feast after a long fast.
For Delhites, now no more scouring grocery shops for vrat chips or eating kuttu ki roti with aloo subzi at home. Now they can enjoy pure vegetarian food in different eateries, who are now adding new list of Navrata dishes to their existing menu card.
Be it the popular eatery like the Nirulas or high-end restaurants or hotels, all are geared up for the festive season with their carefully selected menus for the Navrata.
Hotel Sheraton’s F & B manager Rishiraj Singh says that eateries now have realized the fact that they can make good business during the Navratra as well.
“Earlier food joints used to wear a deserted look during Navaratra. But now the conception of eating out is changing and people don’t mind to come out and break their fast at a restaurant, who are now serving special Navrata thalis,” he said.
“People thought that fasting was boring and there was no point in spending money on it. But with restaurants coming up with new Navratra specials, we have experienced a rise in the number of people, who are ordering Navratra thali,” he added.
Dishes like masala arbi satay, chiraunji ki dal, paneer plantain kofta, charnamrit shots and whipped up makhane ki kheer have become popular. Traditional dishes like singhade ki poori, kuttu ki roti and sabudaane ki kheer are also being served with arbi and kela.
For housewives like Anita Khurana eating out at restaurants, which are dishing out spit is a welcome special Navratra thalis, is a welcome break.
“Now keeping a vrat (fast) is much more exciting because now we can look forward to an exciting Navratra thali in the evening. During this season, we don’t have forego our Sunday dine out,” she said.
