New Delhi, Mar 18 (IBNS): In a suspected case of child sacrifice, at least five children have been killed since December in a Maharashtra village, with the incident coming to light on Wednesday with the arrest of four suspects, including three women.
The five boys, aged between 4-12, were from Digras village in Hingoli district and killed between December, 2009, to March, 2010, media reports said, quoting local police officers.
The incident came to light when the suspects tried to kidnap and kill a sixth child earlier this month.
One of the arrested, Vandana, reportedly tried to kill another child at the behest of a ‘god man’ for receiving motherhood ‘blessings’.
Vandana is childless and had planned 11 sacrifices in order to bear a child of her own.
Police conducted search operations in the houses of the suspects and arrested them later.
Suspicious materials related to black magic were recovered from their houses.
Altogether six people have been named suspects in the incidents. They have been identified as Parshuram Dalvi, Kalvati Kundlik Mokle, her husband Kundlik Mokle, Aasha J Dalvi, Vandana Mokle and her husband Vithal Mokle.
