Mumbai, Feb 9 (IBNS): Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar on Tuesday met the Mumbai police chief and obtained assurances of security during the screening and release of his film My Name Is Khan (MNIK), facing the ire of Shiv Senas for actor Shahrukh Khan’s stance on Pakistani players.
“We have been assured full protection by the police,” said Karan Johar after meeting the Mumbai police commissioner D Sivanandan.
There were reports of possible vandalism against the film.
Earlier, the police chief had assured of security during the film’s scheduled release on Feb 12 and during its screening subsequently.
Things reached a flashpoint when Shahrukh Khan said he would not apologise to the Shiv Senas for his remark on Pakistani players.
SRK said he stood by what he said (on welcoming Pakistani players in the Indian Premier League).
