Don't take law in hand: Ruchika friend

Chandigarh, Feb 8 (IBNS) Aradhana, the friend of late Ruchika Girhotra who was driven to suicide by his molester and former Haryana top cop SPS Rathore, on Monday urged all to remain within law, reacting to the attack on the cop by an angry youth.
"This seemed like an act of public outrage because Rathore is still not punished. But for 19 and half years we are doing things (within law)," she said.
SPS Rathore, the former Haryana top cop convicted in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation case, was stabbed on the face here outside the court by a youth who was tracking him all along the controversy and media limelight.
Rathore was stabbed thrice and he was rushed to hospital. He is out of danger, sources said.
"I urge all to wait for the judiciary to pass verdict," she said.
The attacker has been identified as 29-year-old Utsav Sharma, a film production student in Ahmedabad who posed as a journalist to attack Rathore. He hails from Varanasi.
Rathore, who has been convicted of molesting teenager Ruchika on August 12, 1990, has been awarded a mere 6 months' imprisonment by a CBI special court. He is on bail at the moment.
Ruchika committed suicide in 1993, allegedly driven to desperation by the former cop who terrorised her family.
Individuals and organizations across the country have expressed their wish to see the case reopened and Rathore punished heavily while Rathore and his wife said they were facing a trial by media.
