Srinagar, Feb 5 (IBNS): Kashmir remains shut on Friday, five days after a teenager died after being hit by a teargas shell fired by police on Sunday, reports said.
According to TV reports, curfew has been imposed in certain parts of Srinagar in order to prevent clashes between civilians and security forces.
At least 100 people in the state have been hurt in clashes between protesters and police in recent times.
Four army personnel were injured on Wednesday when a group of protesters attacked an army convoy in Srinagar's Rawalpura area.
These alleged separatist protesters had called for a three-day shutdown in Srinagar following the death of a 16-year-old boy on Sunday after being hit on the head by a teargas shell fired by security personnel to check a mob of people pelting stones.
The injured boy was rushed to Soura Medical Institute, but he succumbed to his injuries.
Apart from injuries to armymen on Wednesday's attack, many army vehicles were also reportedly damaged.
While the state government has blamed people with vested interests for the situation, the Opposition blamed the government for not being able to handle the situation properly.
