J&K: Bus falls into gorge; 18 killed

Jammu, Nov 25 (IBNS): At least 18 people were killed when a bus carrying a marriage party fell in a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, police said on Sunday.


At least 47 people were injured in the mishap that took place on Saturday.

The bus that was carrying more than 60 passengers was returning from Chenani town when the accident occurred, the police said.

Sub Divisional Magistrate, Dudu Basantgarh Krishan Lal Sharma told The Pioneer, “18 members of the marriage party were killed and 47 others were shifted to the hospital for medical treatment."

The criticially injured passengers were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Jammu and District Hospital in Udhampur, reports said.
