New Delhi, Nov 21 (IBNS): Politicians and celebrities from different sections of society reacted to the hanging of lone surviving terrorist in 26/11 Mumbai attack Ajmal Kasab on Wednesday as they shared their opinions on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Ending a four-year-long judicial process, Kasab was hanged in western city Pune in Maharashtra on Wednesday morning, only four days before the fourth anniversary of the audacious strike from Pakistan-based terror groups that left 166 people dead and over 300 wounded.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted: "Gotta hand it to the Govts at the centre & in Mumbai for the mature way they handled this. Shows we can still keep a secret if we need to."

Demanding actions against Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said: "What about Afzal Guru, who attacked Parliament, our temple of democracy, in 2001? That offence predates Kasab’s heinous act by many years."

Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh tweeted: "Finally Kasab hanged. GOI should pursue the case of the Handlers in Pakistan. Afzal Guru's case should also be expidited now."

BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said: "Der aaye durust aaye. Desh ke dushmano ko kara sandesh aur chetawni (Better late than never. A strong message given to the enemies of the nation)."

Apart from politicians, celebrities from different walks of life voiced their opinions on Kasab's execution on Twitter.

Bollywood actor Anupam Kher said: "Justice may not replace the feeling of loss but it gives strength & hope to continue life with renewed belief in system we live in. #Kasab."

Actor Riteish Deshmukh said: "Kasab hanging - congratulations govt of India - for doing it so effectively. For once the govt broke the news n not the news channels"

Actor Randeep Hooda said: "Kasab hanged at 730 am at yerwada jail.. About time.. Jai Hind !!!!"

Musician Vishal Dadlani posted: "Almost 4 yrs since 26/11, we've learnt/fixed nothing. They could hire any number of new Kasabs. We'd still be sitting ducks, like last time.Don't be fooled or distracted by the death of Kasab. Be sad that we haven't been able to get the real masterminds. Or sort ourselves out."

"Where are the improvements in police training and equipment that we were promised?" he questioned.

"Where is the increase in coastal security that we were promised?" Vishal tweeted.

"What has the government actually done to trace the masterminds of 26/11?" he said.

"Are we gonna be satisfied just by saving the money spent on Kasab? Is that it? Our nett objective?" Vishal said.

Writer Taslima Nasreen tweeted: "Wish Kasab were killed in an encounter w/ police or by terrorists inside prison. Then we could proudly say 'India is against death penalty.'"

"Millions of Kasabs will be born if we do not stop brainwashing our innocent children with religion. #Kasab #terrorism," she said.

Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade tweeted: "Finally.....may u rot in hell with your brethren bloody bas#**d. #Kasab."

Singer Kailash Kher said: "Finally Kasab Got Hanged, Justice implemented in India, the world Believed our Law. Our People will be glad n in trust with governance."

Film director Kunal Kohli said: "Now that Kasab has been executed, can we also get his handlers & the planners who attacked my city ? We need them executed too."

"If the u.s can do a military operation & execute Osama with no trial, why can't we do the same to the handlers/planners of the Mumbai attacks," he said.

Netizens also reacted to Kasab's hanging.

One Kanika Handa tweeted: "Hanging of Ajmal Kasab is just the small step towards the justice for those who lost their loved ones in Mumbai attacks. #Kasab."

Another Karthik Srinivasan said: "People questioning the 4 year 'delay' in Kasab's hanging may miss that even the gravest of alleged sinners have a fair trial in our country."

One Narendra Nath posted: "If u still searching Why,How.If n But.in Kasab Hanging then have to say u actually never wanted Kasab to be hanged for political sake #Kasab."

Another Amar Kudre tweeted: "Kasab's hanging the right step, says slain commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan's father."

A netizen Ashoke Pandit said: "By hanging Kasab before Afzal Guru,Govt in a way has accepted that common man is more imp.than parliamentarians."

A total of 166 people including foreigners were killed in the attack on Mumbai in Nov 2008.

Kasab was the only among the 10 Pakistani gunmen who was captured alive after they went on a killing spree in Mumbai for nearly three days targetting luxury hotels, Jewish centres, railways stations and hospital.

South Mumbai was the main target as the attacks took place at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Oberoi Trident hotel, the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower hotel, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital, the Nariman House Jewish community centre, the Metro Cinema, and a lane behind the Times of India building and St. Xavier's College.

Kasab, who is a Pakistan-groomed Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, was hanged after a four-year long legal process and following rejection of his mercy petitions at every forum- from Supreme Court to the President.
