Kashmir's first 35MM film to release

By Neyaz Elahi

Srinagar, Nov 13 (IBNS) Partav, the first 35 MM Digital Kashmiri feature film, is ready and the premiere is likely to be held in the first week of Dec in Srinagar.

Some top Bollywood film personalities could attend the premiere of the film that has been written and directed by Dilnawaz Muntazir who has done his direction course from Australian Film Institute.

The national premiere of the film will be held at New Delhi in the same month while an international premiere is also scheduled in Washington in Jan 2013.

The film is an endeavor of some young professionals who are keen to prove themselves as young and budding film makers.

All the technicians of the film are locals who have been trained outside and preferred to stay back to serve their mother tongue. They are here to prove that there is no dearth of talent.

The film has been shot in Kashmir in the autumn season which goes with the mood of the film in some exclusive locales. All the actors in the film are of local origin and few residing outside had come to Kashmir for shooting.

“Partav” is the story of a professor who is literate and highly qualified. He is so obsessed with his literary works that he forsakes everything else, even abandons his spouse after just six months of marriage.

He is so passionately devoted to his literary pursuit that everything else is meaningless for him.

Writing of papers and books, delivering lectures keeps him preoccupied. He has no friends and family and arrogantly boosts that if one is devoted to a particular cause he should renounce everything else to peruse his obsession.

However, one day when he meets a student who happens to be his own son and he shakes his world and rakes his conscience by asking simple questions about life. He is devastated; the myth of his so called empire falls down like a house of cards.

He feels that all his life he has been following shadows and fallacies; education simplifies the meaning of life. It eases the complication and complexities of life and simplifies its meaning by showing how the life is lived.

Director Dilnawaz Muntazir along with Raja Bilal has composed the music of the film.

The cinematography of the film has been done by Muhammad Younis Zargar, a trained cinematographer, editor and graphic designer. The film has been edited by Ashiq Hussain Rather, a trained film editor.

The cast of the film includes Raja Majeed, Nirmala Dhar, Farooq Afaq, Jehangir Farash, Neelofar, Rayees Mohi-ud-din, Nazir Harbol, Joziya Mir and others.
