New Delhi, Dec 6 (IBNS) President Pranab Mukherjee led the nation in paying homage to Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his 57th Mahaparinirvan Diwas here on Thursday.
The President offered floral tributes at the statue of Babasaheb at Sansad Bhavan Lawns in the Parliament House complex on Thursday morning.
Vice President M. Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar also offered tributes to the Father of the Indian Constitution.
Among other leaders who paid floral homage to Babasaheb included Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Kumari Selja, and Minister of State, Social Justice and Empowerment D. Napolean.
National Advisory Council Chairperson Sonia Gandhi also paid floral tributes to Ambedkar.
The function was organised by the Ambedkar Foundation, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
