MLAs hurt in Bihar assembly violence

Patna, July 20 (IBNS) Several Bihar legislators were hurt when they clashed inside the state assembly as chaotic scenes dominated the day in the house on Tuesday over a Patna High Court order for a CBI probe into financial irregularities in development and welfare schemes.
The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLAs hurled objects at each other, leaving four legislators injured.
The MLAs hurled furniture and came down to exchanging blows.
Opposition members belonging to RJD, Congress and Left parties demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is among those named in a complaint alleging irregularities of Rs.11,412 crore.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs on the other hand was demanding resignation of the government at the centre over price rise.
A free for all ensued and the house was adjourned by Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhry for the day.
The opposition also squatted for a period on the assembly premises.
Similar scenes were witnessed in the state legislative council.
